Climate Change

Today I'm going to write about Climate Change, guys. Climate change is becoming a BIG issue. I live in Wisconsin and living here makes me wonder how it's effecting WI. It's not that big of a state and there's not really much here except for like the Green Bay Packers. So how is global warming effecting WI? I'll tell you. The winters here are much wetter and the summers are much drier. The summers are also longer hotter and there are more frequent heat waves. Although this summer seemed to be colder than all the other ones. Farmers in WI are being forced to grow different crops because of the climate change. There is bad air quality. All the water is becoming warmer and the rivers are becoming shallower. The lakes have low water levels and have more algae in them. There have been more floods, droughts, forest fires, and storms than ever before. And one last thing, there are more disease carrying insects. All that information came from here. So how can we prevent all of this from happening? Or at least slow down the process if anything. I'll give you some ideas. We can not use so much heat or air conditioning. If it's in the summer, open your windows instead of turning on the A/C right away. If it's winter, switch to a pellet stove or a wood stove to heat your house instead of a furnice. Try biking or walking places instead of driving. Or use public transportation so there's not as many vehicles on the road. Unplug things when you're done using things because even if you just turn it off, if you leave it plugged in you're still using electricity. Don't have all the lights on in your house constantly. Turn the light and t.v.'s off when you leave the room. Use your water wisely. Don't keep the water on while you brush your teeth. Shorten your showers. Most of all, make sure you RECYCLE! That information came from here. That's all for now. =D Make a difference people. As a part of the student blogging challenge, I wrote a post for BAD 2009 on the topic of climate change. BAD Website, check it.
